5 Best Tattoo Studios in Liverpool – Explore artists for your next design

Two Bold Street studios opened in 1992 and 1995, which makes them older than plenty of the people booking in. Bold Street holds a big share of the tattoo studios Liverpool clients come to, but two of the five below sit out in Orrell Park and Aigburth, and those suburban chairs can be easier to get. The order is for reading, not a ranking.

Why Bold Street changes how you choose

Three of these studios are within a ten-minute walk of each other, close to Liverpool Central. So you can spend one afternoon looking at books and talking to artists before paying anyone a deposit. Do that. Portfolios on Instagram are curated, and healed work in person tells you more than a fresh photo under ring lights.

The suburbs trade foot traffic for parking and calmer diaries. Think of Bold Street as the high street and Aigburth Road as the specialist’s back room. If your design is a large realism piece needing three sittings, an easy drive and a free space outside matters more by the third session. Artists building a following outside the city centre sometimes get local coverage through Indiana PR catalog site listings.

1. Dermagraffiti, 69a Bold Street

Dermagraffiti has tattooed since 1995 and shares its upstairs space on Bold Street with the Liverpool Tattoo Museum, so a consultation doubles as a small history lesson. Jay Forshaw has worked professionally since the studio opened and covers black and grey, portraits, skulls, Celtic designs and heavy colour. It opens Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 6pm. Suits anyone wanting a long-established name. Not the place for a Sunday walk-in.

2. The Original Dr Feelgood Tattoo Studio, 2 Bold Street

Ray opened Dr Feelgood in 1992, and the Liverpool Echo has described it as the oldest established studio in the city centre. The entrance is through K Barbers at the top of Bold Street, which confuses first-timers. It does piercing as well as tattoos. Good for a classic piece from a studio with three decades of local clients.

3. Creato Tattoo, 114 Bold Street

Creato is run by Saeid, the owner and sole artist, near Liverpool Central. His focus includes new style work, blackwork and realism, and the studio writes about blackwork as a cover-up option. A one-artist studio means one diary. You get the same hands from consultation to final session, but a cancellation can’t be passed to a colleague. Studios this size that want wider exposure could look at Florida PR Services page.

4. Sacred Swan Tattoo, 304 Aigburth Road

Sacred Swan is on Aigburth Road, L17 9PW, a short walk from Sefton Park, with free roadside parking. Consultations cost nothing. The team takes custom, colour and black and grey work and is happy to tackle cover-ups, and Henrique Ramos is listed as its realism artist. It opens Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm. A sensible choice for a multi-session sleeve.

5. Liverpool Tattoos, Orrell Park

Liverpool Tattoos has worked from 110 Northfield Road, L9 8BA, since 2015. The process is spelled out: contact by email, text, Instagram or Facebook, or drop in, get a quote, then pay a deposit to secure the date. The style list is long, from Japanese and Polynesian to trash polka and micro realism. North Liverpool and Bootle clients save the trip into town.

Before you book

Can I get tattooed at 17 with parental consent?

No. The Tattooing of Minors Act 1969 bans tattooing anyone under 18 in Great Britain, consent or not.

Is a deposit refundable?

Usually not, though most studios will move it once if you give notice. Ask before paying. Shop owners publishing policy changes through Ohio PR newswire still expect clients to read the studio’s own terms.

How should I prepare for a long session?

Eat properly, sleep, skip alcohol the night before and bring a snack. Wear clothing that exposes the area easily. A shop expanding its team might note the opening on Tennessee local PR sites, but your artist’s prep advice comes first.

Walk Bold Street before you pay

Pick a Saturday, bring two reference images and visit Dermagraffiti and Creato in the same hour. Then email Sacred Swan or Liverpool Tattoos for a quote to compare.
